This forum is an annual conference for all Peers Leaders in the region. It is a chance for Peers to network, learn together, celebrate successes and collaborate on ideas for school-wide initiatives.
Component Goals:
The Peer Leaders Forum provides an opportunity for Peer Leaders from high schools throughout the region to connect with community members, meet with other student leaders, and collaborate on school-wide initiatives to promote the value of diversity, difference, and inclusion. The overall goal is to share thoughts and ideas on issues related to diversity within each of the participating schools and to share best practices to effect positive social change.
The day begins with a panel discussion focused on anti-diversity behaviors such as discrimination, exclusion and bullying. Panelists share their personal stories and discuss how their experiences have shaped their desire to make positive social change. After lunch, participants reflect and discuss their understanding of the panel discussion in small group workshops. The Peer Leaders Forum concludes with opportunities for participants to collaborate with fellow students and teachers on school-wide initiatives to promote the value of diversity, difference, and inclusion to their entire school community.
